Shui ~ WelcomING the Year of the Snake with a Festive Lunar New Year Celebration

Subiaco’s modern Asian dining gem, Shui, is set to usher in the Year of the Wood Snake with a vibrant Lunar New Year celebration on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

Known for its elevated fusion of Asian flavours and immersive dining experiences, Shui Subiaco is embracing tradition and innovation for one special night. Co-owner and head chef Leigh Power has curated an exclusive banquet menu to mark the occasion — designed to honour the themes of prosperity, transformation and fresh beginnings that the Year of the Snake represents.

The Lunar New Year banquet will feature a limited-edition selection of dishes created especially for the evening. Guests can expect Power’s signature blend of rich flavour, thoughtful technique and seasonal ingredients, all reimagined through the lens of Lunar New Year tradition.

But the celebration won’t stop at the table. In true festive spirit, every guest will receive a traditional red envelope — or Ang Pao — with surprise gifts inside. Prizes range from $50–$250 Shui dining vouchers to complimentary cocktails and exclusive discounts, continuing the tradition of sharing good fortune and abundance.

Adding to the energy of the evening, Shui will also host a traditional Lion Dance performance, a cultural highlight symbolic of good luck and the warding off of evil spirits.

Held just once a year, this event is expected to sell out quickly — and with good reason. It’s an unforgettable way to celebrate the new lunar cycle: with incredible food, immersive atmosphere, and a community experience that brings the city’s rich multicultural spirit to life.
